Leeds City Council and City of Bradford MDC are working together on a variety of digital projects under the ‘Superconnected Cities’ banner. One such project is to work with Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) to improve their broadband speeds. Grants (known as vouchers) are paid to businesses between £100 and £3,000 to help them get better connected. Superfast broadband can among other things, increase business efficiency and productivity and reduce downtime. The Dataset This dataset provides some information about companies who have been successful in applying for a grant. It shows their original upload and download speeds and the improvements they expect to receive. It is recognised that there are some gaps in this dataset, however this information should be populated as the project progresses. Voucher scheme The voucher scheme is due to run until March 2015. If you have any questions about the application process or eligibility, please call us on 0113 3950357, email info@superconnectedleedsbradford.co.uk or see our website http://www.superfastwestyorkshire.co.uk

This dataset concerns loans of books made across libraries in Leeds since the 2000/01 financial year. Please note The figures do not include loans of any of media items (for example, loans of CDs, DVDs, talking books etc). Please also be aware that the figures are for the number of ‘issues’, as opposed to simply the number of books loaned. For example, if someone borrowed one book, but renewed it twice, this would count as three issues.

The dataset shows the interim projected household levels broken down by age. This dataset replaces the 2008-based household projections released in 2010. The household projections are produced by applying projected household representative rates to the population projections published by the Office for National Statistics. Projected household representative rates are based on trends observed in Census and Labour Force Survey data. The assumptions underlying national household and population projections are demographic trend based. They are not forecasts as they do not attempt to predict the impact that future government policies, changing economic circumstances or other factors might have on demographic behaviour. They provide the household levels and structures that would result if the assumptions based on previous demographic trends in the population and rates of household formation were to be realised in practice. Additional Information. This data is available for download as an Excel spreadsheet (https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/189965/AllTablesNonRegionalFinal__3_.xls). The original open data source can be found on the DCLG Open Data site - (http://opendatacommunities.org/data/households/projections/by-age)

Summary
Description
This dataset contains the numbers of households accommodated by local authorities, broken down by local authority and temporary accommodation type from 2011 Q2 to 2014 Q2 for households accepted as statuorily homeless. Data for other time periods will be added in due course. The term "Homelessness" is often considered to apply only to people "sleeping rough". However, most of our statistics on homelessness relate to the statutorily homeless i.e. those households which meet specific criteria of priority need set out in legislation, and to whom a homelessness duty has been accepted by a local authority. Such households are rarely homeless in the literal sense of being without a roof over their heads, but are more likely to be threatened with the loss of, or are unable to continue with, their current accommodation. A detailed explanation of the responsibilities of local authorities in this area is available from the DCLG website, here. A "main homelessness duty" is owed where the authority is satisfied that the applicant is eligible for assistance, unintentionally homeless and falls within a specified priority need group. Such statutorily homeless households are referred to as "acceptances". The numbers are presented in terms of households, not individuals. A household is defined as: one person living alone, or a group of people living at the same address who share common housekeeping or a living room. Additional Information This data is also available in Table 784a, available for download as an Excel spreadsheet (https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/358231/Table_784a.xls). The original open data source canbe found at the DCLG Open Data Portal - ODC (http://opendatacommunities.org/data/homelessness/households-accommodated/temporary-housing-types).
