Description

[Numbers of people on local authority electoral registers.](https://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/londondatastore-upload/electoral-roll-numbers-borough.xls) The table shows total number of local government electors includes residential qualifiers and attainers, Peers and European Union citizens. Local government areas are unitary authorities, London boroughs and district councils in England; unitary authorities in Wales; council areas in Scotland and Northern Ireland. This table is derived from data supplied to ONS by Electoral Registration Officers and shows the number of people who on 1 December were registered to vote in the parliamentary and local elections in the UK. The residence qualification requires a person to be normally living at the address on the qualifying date, even if temporarily absent. People having more than one place of residence, such as students, may therefore be included on more than one register. In Northern Ireland, eligibility for registration requires three month's residence within the province. Overseas electors are not resident in the United Kingdom, but must previously have been resident here and included in the electoral register (unless they were too young to register). They are registered in the same parliamentary constituency as before they went abroad. Attainer is the term used to describe a person who attains the age of 18 during the currency of the register, and is entitled to vote at an election held on or after his or her eighteenth birthday.

Description

Components of population change, mid year to mid year, showing net changes caused by Internal migration, International Migration and Natural change. Internal Migration Figures are derived from re-registrations recorded at the National Health Service Central Register. International Migration figures are from International Passenger Survey results. Comparison with National Health Service Central Register (NHSCR) figures: These figures can be compared to the NHSCR inter regional moves tables published quarterly by the ONS. These NHSCR numbers are derived from notifications of a change of GP, and assume a one month lag between moving and re-registration.The PRDS provides slightly different numbers to the NHSCR because of slightly different boundaries for some Government Office Regions. Internal migration includes migration within England & Wales, plus cross-border migration flows to and from Scotland and Northern Ireland.International migration includes migration flows to and from all countries outside the UK. The figures quoted here include the adjustment made for asylum seekers missed by the International Passenger Survey (IPS) and visitor switchers. These estimates are NOT National Statistics.

IDBR employment data are provided within this 10 year dataset so that Counts, Employment and Turnover are all on a consistent IDBR basis, and these variables can be used in combination eg Turnover per Enterprise. This is the first time IDBR employment and turnover have ever been published. Turnover for this dataset includes Financial Intermediation where some turnover figures are volatile. 2 digit SIC Local Authority data for Enterprises and Local Units for 2009 are available from Neighbourhood Statistics. http://neighbourhood.statistics.gov.uk/dissemination/Info.do?page=analysisandguidance/analysisarticles/idbr-analysis-to-support-local-authorities.htm IDBR is the best source for counts of enterprises and local units. Definitions: Enterprise Group - A group of legal units under common ownership. Local Unit - An individual site (for example a factory or shop) in an enterprise. Employment - Comprises not just employees (that is, people receiving a salary) but also owners and/or partners of enterprises. See more on the [ONS website](http://neighbourhood.statistics.gov.uk).

The 2001 Area Classification of output areas is used to group together geographic areas according to key characteristics common to the population in that grouping. These groupings are called clusters, and are derived using 2001 population census data. This is a new classification produced using the same principles but a different statistical methodology from that used to produce the other area classifications. This data package presents the data for the 24,140 Census Output Areas in Greater London but data for the UK is also available (see Download URL below). For further guidance, advice and to see case studies using the 2001 OAC data, visit the OAC User Groups website: If you have any queries about or problems accessing any of the data please let Leeds University know: E-mail comments or queries to d.vickers@sheffield.ac.uk or visit their [website](http://www.sasi.group.shef.ac.uk/area_classification/index.html). *Please note that the Output Area cluster names (e.g. 'City Living') are not a national statistic and endorsed by ONS, these have been created and added by the University of Leeds to add further meaning to the classification.
