HM Treasury guidance requires us to publish expenditure (payments) over £25,000. We publish details of all of our expenditure in an easy access format (csv) for each month. The files contain the following information required by HM Treasury: - date of payment - expense type (for example, stationery and water) - expense area (for example, Human Resources) - the payee - transaction number - value of the payment - description Where the item we have paid has more than one expense type and/or expense area, there is a line devoted to each, but these related lines share the same transaction number. You can calculate the original transaction’s total by adding lines with the same transaction number. Typical transactions are purchase invoices, funding allocations, staff expenses and bank charges. Despite being exempt, we have included summarised payroll information

Summary
Description
The Government is committed to increasing transparency across Whitehall and local Authorities. The first step for central Government departments is to publish on-line items of spend over £25,000 from April 2010 onwards. However at The NHS Information Centre we believe that we should start to release as much information as soon as possible and we will publish details of all of our invoices paid which total over £500. The information will be published on a monthly basis by the 15th working day. Publication of these lists forms part of The NHS Information Centre's commitment to be open and transparent with the wider public. For data protection reasons, where payments have been made to individuals, the names have been replaced with the word 'Redacted'.

Description
The Government has set out its clear commitment to improved transparency about how it spends public money. This includes details of the size and shape of public bodies and about the remuneration provided to senior public servants. The organisational chart and staff pay data files include the names, grade, job titles and annual pay rates for the most senior NHS IC staff with salaries higher than the lowest permissible in Pay Band 2 of the Senior Civil Servant (SCS) pay scale. It is currently expected that this information will be refreshed every 6 months. Note on recruitment restrictions The government has implemented a series of spending restrictions designed to deliver efficiencies across departments and arms length bodies. These include a moratorium on external recruitment except where posts are required for front-line services or are business critical. Such exceptions require sponsor approval and the number of exceptions is published as part of the transparency agenda (see links below). We operate strict controls to ensure that external recruitment only occurs when necessary to maintain service delivery.

The Stroke Improvement National Audit Programme (SINAP) was a national clinical audit which collected information from hospitals in England about the first 72 hours of acute stroke care. SINAP aimed to improve the quality of stroke care for patients by measuring hospital performance against evidence based standards of acute care and benchmarking against all hospitals submitting a minimum number of complete records. Prospective, self-reported data were collected via a web based tool between May 2010 and December 2012 and analysed at the Royal College of Physicians (RCP), London. SINAP results for 7 quarters from April 2011 to December 2012 were made public by named hospital. These results, which can be downloaded below, present national and hospital level data showing performance against important aspects of acute stroke care including 12 key stroke indicators. The 12 key indicators were selected by the Intercollegiate Stroke Working Party (ICSWP) following analysis of the first year’s data and are considered to be representative of the first 72 hours of care. Using the same indicators for each quarterly report enabled comparisons over time to be illustrated. The evidence base behind these Key Indicators can be found in appendix 2 of the PDF version of the report. The total number of records and the number of records per hospital submitted in each quarter is also included in the table to give context to each hospital's results. The column headings in the table have been abbreviated; please find the list of abbreviated column headings and their corresponding descriptions in Sheet 2 of the spreadsheet. Please also refer to the guidance for interpreting SINAP results, also in Sheet 2. Only hospitals which directly admit acute stroke patients were eligible to participate in SINAP. 68% of eligible hospitals in England were included in the final quarterly report. Non participating hospitals are named in the report. SINAP was run by the RCP Stroke programme on behalf of the Intercollegiate Stroke Working Party (ICSWP) and commissioned by the Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership (HQIP). Data submission for SINAP has now ended. The new stroke audit, the Sentinel Stroke National Audit Programme (SSNAP), is now the single source of stroke data nationally. SSNAP collects a minimum dataset for every stroke patient since December 2012. For more information, please go to www.rcplondon.ac.uk/ssnap

The Carotid Interventions Audit was initiated in 2005 as a collaboration between the Vascular Society of Great Britain & Ireland and the Royal College of Physicians. Its purpose is to gather information about the pathway of care for patients with carotid stenosis who undergo carotid interventions (either surgery or endovascular stenting). Data allows the audit to follow the patient journey and compare clinical performance with national guidelines for care delivery. The audit covers carotid endarterectomies performed in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. However the data files here on cover information on English NHS trusts. The data here is for Round 4 of the audit, which covered operations undertaken between October 2010 and September 2011 that were submitted to the National Vascular Database by the end of December 2011.
