"Monthly management information on staff numbers and paybill costs in Civil Service departments, their agencies and their executive NDPBs. For workforce numbers, both payroll and non-payroll (contingent labour, including consultants) information is provided, split between full-time equivalents (FTE) and headcount, with payroll staff numbers mapped to standard Civil Service grades. For costs, payroll paybill information is broken down into its component parts i.e. salaries, allowances, employers pensions contributions etc. For non-payroll costs, these are split between costs for consultancy and those of other non-payroll workers. Staffing numbers are as at the last day of the month for the reference month. Cost information is that for the reference month. For baseline 2010/11 returns, staffing numbers are as at 31 March 2011, and paybill costs are for the financial year 2010/11."

Warning: Large file size (over 1GB). Each monthly data set is large (over 4 million rows), but can be viewed in standard software such as Microsoft WordPad (save by right-clicking on the file name and selecting 'Save Target As', or equivalent on Mac OSX). It is then possible to select the required rows of data and copy and paste the information into another software application, such as a spreadsheet. What does the data cover? General practice prescribing data is a list of all medicines, dressings and appliances that are prescribed and dispensed each month. A record will only be produced when this has occurred and there is no record for a zero total. For each practice in England, the following information is presented at presentation level for each medicine, dressing and appliance, (by presentation name): - the total number of items prescribed and dispensed - the total net ingredient cost - the total actual cost - the total quantity The data covers NHS prescriptions written in England and dispensed in the community in the UK. Prescriptions written in England but dispensed outside England are included. The data includes prescriptions written by GPs and other non-medical prescribers (such as nurses and pharmacists) who are attached to GP practices. GP practices are identified only by their national code, so an additional data file - linked to the first by the practice code - provides further detail in relation to the practice. Presentations are identified only by their BNF code, so an additional data file - linked to the first by the BNF code - provides the chemical name for that presentation.

Data from June 2010 onwards is also available. December 2012 was the final release of the data at chemical level. Description

This dataset contains numbers of households accepted by the authority as homeless and in priority need, but for which no accommodation has yet been secured. The term "Homelessness" is often considered to apply only to people "sleeping rough". However, most of our statistics on homelessness relate to the statutorily homeless i.e. those households which meet specific criteria of priority need set out in legislation, and to whom a homelessness duty has been accepted by a local authority. Such households are rarely homeless in the literal sense of being without a roof over their heads, but are more likely to be threatened with the loss of, or are unable to continue with, their current accommodation. A detailed explanation of the responsibilities of local authorities in this area is available from the DCLG website, [here](http://www.communities.gov.uk/housing/housingresearch/housingstatistics/housingstatisticsby/homelessnessstatistics/notesdefinitions/). A "main homelessness duty" is owed where the authority is satisfied that the applicant is eligible for assistance, unintentionally homeless and falls within a specified priority need group. Such statutorily homeless households are referred to as "acceptances". This dataset provides statistics on the numbers of cases where it has been decided that the applicant is eligible for assistance, but no accommodation had yet been provided. The numbers are presented in terms of households, not individuals. A household is defined as: one person living alone, or a group of people living at the same address who share common housekeeping or a living room. This data was derived from Table 784a, available for download as an [Excel spreadsheet](http://www.communities.gov.uk/documents/statistics/xls/2102108.xls).

Description

This data set shows the average weekly social rent (£), excluding service charge), of new Private Registered Providers (PRP) general needs lettings, 2012/13 Information about the tenancy, the tenants and the property is collected each time there is a new letting. Lets of general needs and supported social housing are collected, and, from 2012/13, both local authority and private registered providers also report their affordable rent lettings (PRPs began this reporting in 2011/12). All data are submitted through the on-line Continuous Recording system (CORE). The rents reported to CORE are for properties let within the financial year and therefore will differ to figures on the rents for all social stock. Private registered providers (PRPs) PRPs refer in this document to Private Registered Providers of social housing in England that are registered with the social housing regulator (from 1st April 2012 this is the Homes and Communities Agency’s Regulation Committee). These were previously term Registered Social Landlords or housing associations. This term excludes local authority registered providers. General needs housing General needs housing covers the bulk of housing stock for rent and includes both self-contained and shared housing. It is stock that is not designated for specific client groups requiring support, or stock that does not have the special design features that are specific to housing for older people or supported housing. Where additional support is offered to all residents as a matter of course, this stock is not general needs (see definition of supported housing). For further information please see the 'Social Housing Lettings: April 2012 to March 2013, England' statistical release available in [PDF format](https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/252344/REVISED_20131023_CORE_statistical_release_2012-13.pdf).

Description

The data in this data set was provided by HM Treasury and details mortgage completions on properties supported by Help to Buy: mortgage guarantee completions, by local authority, England. The data set covers the period 8 October 2013 to 30 June 2014. The Help to Buy: mortgage guarantee scheme opened on 8 October 2013 and is available across the United Kingdom. Under the scheme the government offers lenders the option to purchase a guarantee on mortgage loans where the borrower has a deposit of between 5% and 20%. The scheme can be used for mortgages on both new build and existing homes, by first time buyers, home movers and those remortgaging. In order to qualify for a loan supported by the Help to Buy: mortgage guarantee, there are a number of eligibility criteria which are set out in the scheme rules. The guarantee compensates participating mortgage lenders for a portion of net losses suffered in the event of repossession. The guarantee applies down to 80% of the purchase value of the guaranteed property covering 95% of these net losses. The lender therefore retains a 5% risk in the portion of losses covered by the guarantee. This ensures that the lender retains some risk in every mortgage originated. For example, the scheme is not available on buy-to-let mortgages or second homes, and the property value must be £600,000 or less. Over the life of the scheme the government will make available up to £12 billion of guarantees, which is sufficient to support up to £130 billion of high loan-to-value (LTV) mortgages. For further information see [Help to Buy: mortgage guarantee scheme Quarterly Statistics](https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/349540/help_to_buy_mortgage_guarantee_quarterly_statistics_020914.pdf).

Description

This dataset lists a number of local authority districts that existed in the 1990s. These former local authority districts appear in some statistical datasets of the DCLG, but are sufficiently old that they do not have an ONS 'SNAC' code. Other more recent, but now defunct, local authority districts - for example those which disappeared in the 2009 reforms of local government - do have SNAC codes and appear in the [Administrative Geography Dataset](http://opendatacommunities.org/datasets/administrative-geography).
