Underlying data from the publication 'Research to understand the barriers to take up and use of business support' [URN 11/1288]. Data from a survey of 1,202 employer SMEs in England undertaken in March 2011. The survey was designed to provide statistically robust evidence of business use and non use of external business support services, differentiating between private sector and public sector sources of both routine information and strategic advice. The survey aimed to produce a broadly representative sample of SME employers and used a random stratified sample from the Experian database adopting quotas in order to capture sufficient numbers of businesses across key categories (age, size, sector, region). The data presented in the published report was weighted by size band to correct for over-sampling amongst larger SMEs.

This report presents the findings of a survey of attitudes towards mental illness among adults in England undertaken in 2011. Questions on this topic have been asked since 1994. The questionnaire included a number of statements about mental illness. Respondents were asked to indicate how much they agreed or disagreed with each statement. Other questions covered a range of other topics including descriptions of people with mental illness, relationships with people with mental health problems, personal experience of mental illness, and perceptions of mental health-related stigma and discrimination. This is a survey report previously published by the Department of Health.

This is the fourth annual publication of the Accident and Emergency (A&E) Attendance data within Hospital Episodes Statistics (HES). It covers the period April 2010 to March 2011 and draws on 16.2 million detailed records of attendances at major A&E departments, single specialty A&E departments, minor injuries units and walk-in centres in England. Publishing the A&E HES data, as experimental statistics, enables initial conclusions to be presented for discussion and aims to promote and highlight the uses of this potentially rich data set. During the period covered by this publication, not all providers have completed data submissions and data quality is poor in some cases. The publication also includes analysis of the A&E HES data compared to the Quarterly Monitoring of Accident and Emergency (QMAE) return, the official source of A&E information, to highlight areas for further investigation. NHS organisations can review their own data to ascertain the extent to which their local trend follows the national pattern. This can be done by using the accompanying interactive Provider level analysis file. The full report and accompanying tables are also available on our dedicated website HESonline, along with inpatient, outpatient and maternity data.

This report provides information on dental working hours for dentists in Scotland in 2008/09 and 2009/10 who performed some NHS activity. Information on average weekly hours, NHS weekly hours, weeks of annual leave and the division of time between NHS and private dentistry, and clinical and non-clinical work, is presented. The results are presented for Principal Dentists (those who are owners, directors or partners of a dental practice) and for Associate Dentists (those who are self-employed and enter into an agreement with a Principal Dentist, that is neither partnership nor employment). This report was produced by The NHS Information Centre for health and social care, and The Dental Working Group. This is the first year that The NHS Information Centre has produced working hours data for dentists in Scotland. As such, this report carries the label "Experimental Statistics". Experimental Statistics are new statistics that are undergoing evaluation. We therefore welcome comments on this report.

DCMS has implemented the recommendations of the review and sought the relevant tax assurances from all off-payroll appointees within DCMS and it’s ALBs.
