Description

The Mental Health Minimum Data Set (MHMDS) is a regular return of data from providers of NHS funded adult secondary mental health services, produced during the course of delivering services to patients. Providers currently submit data every quarter. From Quarter 1 2011/12, a new version of MHMDS (version 4) includes new data items and is processed using a new system. Some of the changes have been introduced to support the implementation of Payment by Results for mental health. Read full details of the data specification Read the Information Standards Notice for MHMDS version 4 (external ISB website) The Community Mental Health Activity collection is collected via the Omnibus system.

Description

This National Indicator Set (NIS) underpins the performance framework for local government and meets the then government's commitment to introduce a clear set of national outcomes and a single set of national indicators by which to measure them (as set out in the local government white paper Strong and Prosperous Communities). For the year 2010-11 the NHS Information Centre collected information on eight of the indicators which relate to social care and mental health services. The social care information provided at Council level for all councils with Adult Social Services responsibilities (CASSRs) in England and presented in this report is provisional and relates to the period April 2010 – March 2011. Final information is expected to be published in March 2012. The mental health information in this report is supplied by NHS trusts providing specialist mental health services. This report includes final 2010-11 data for the two indicators (NI149 and NI150) that relate to people in contact with secondary mental health services. To access the data, you will need to complete the self registration process - this should only take you a couple of minutes. The data can be found in the NASCIS online analytical processing tool: headline figures are available in the NIS table and the underlying information to calculate the indicator values for all indicators except NI127, NI 149 and NI 150 is within the RAP and ASC-CAR tables.

Description

This release contains data for the quarters April - June 2008 to April - June 2012. Other quarters will be added subsequently. Note that there have been changes to PCTs from 1st April 2010. In some cases these are minor changes to names. In such cases the earlier name will be retained for consistency. The PCTs East and North Hertfordshire and West Hertfordshire have merged to form Hertfordshire. Solihull PCT gave up its Care Trust status and changed its PCT code in May 2011 and so there will be a discontinutiy in data between quarters before April 2011 and subsequent data. Some prescriptions will continue to appear for the old PCTs for up to 6 months as prescriptions are valid for that period. The data is being made available via NHS iView which will allow users to manipulate and extract data. To use NHS iView you will need to create an account. Go to NHS iView to view the data. Read the iView Prescribing user guide. In line with the Making Public Data Public initiative, the data for April to June 2012 is also being made available as a comma-separated variable (csv) file. The structure of the file is: Quarter PCT Code PCT Name BNF Section Code BNF Section Name Items Actual Cost Net Ingredient Cost Note that the file has column headings and that this is as extracted from ePACT (service provided by Prescription Services) and no changes have been made. It therefore differs from the iView product.

Description

This is the latest publication of provisional post-operatives scores from the Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) programme for the period April 2010 to March 2011. This publication considers the change in patients' self-reported health status for the four common elective surgical procedures in the PROMs programme: groin hernia surgery, hip replacement, knee replacement and varicose vein surgery. Analysis covers the period from April 2010 to the end of March 2011 and includes pre-operative questionnaires that all English providers treating NHS patients have been asked to collect from patients who wish to participate and post-operative questionnaires returned by patients following their surgery. Not all patients undergoing the relevant operations returned questionnaires for a variety of reasons.
