Description

On 23 May 2012, the government published a review of the tax arrangements of public sector appointees. The review identified the number of off payroll engagements worth more than £58,200 per annum across government. The fact that payments are made off payroll does not necessarily mean that tax liabilities have thereby been avoided. The review made recommendations to improve the tax transparency of these kind of arrangements. The following document constitutes the Department for Transport’s submission to this review. The full review and recommendations can be found at www.hm-treasury.gov.uk. Information on GOV.UK about Department for Transport's submission for the civil service tax review.

Description

The Department’s Information Asset Register (IAR) is a table of information relating to the important datasets that the Department is responsible for. These information assets are managed in line with Cabinet Office guidance to ensure that the data within them is appropriately protected. The Information Asset Register is a live document, and the style of entries varies because text is entered by the individuals responsible for managing the assets – the Information Asset Owners, across the Department and its Executive Agencies. The IAR will be updated annually. A number of assets where Freedom of Information exclusions on publication apply have been excluded from the published list but the number of these amounts to less than 1% of the total number of assets held. Information on GOV.UK about the information asset register at Department for Transport.

Under the terms of the Ministerial Code, ministers must ensure that no conflict arises, or could reasonably be perceived to arise, between their ministerial position and their private interests, financial or otherwise. On appointment to each new office, ministers must provide their Permanent Secretary with a list in writing of all relevant interests known to them which might be thought to give rise to a conflict. The following list contains relevant interests of the ministers concerned current at the date of publication. Where a minister has disposed of a relevant interest, or where they did so before taking up ministerial office, it is not included in the List.
