Description

The percentage of under 16's living in low income households, living in families receiving means-tested benefits. The data are of very high quality as they are drawn from a 100% scan of administrative records and as a result are not subject to any sampling error. A small number of claimants whose details are held clerically are excluded. Comprehensive validation checks are undertaken. Rounding error is liable to occur in the process of aggregating from LSOAs to Local Authorities. Local authority denominator derived by aggregating LSOA-level relevant child population estimates, these are based on ONS experimental statistics. Measuring the proportion of children under 16 years living in families receiving means-tested benefits.
